Dr. Boris Slavchev

Dr. Boris Slavchev was born on 16.06.1980 in the city of Sofia. He completed his higher education in Medicine at the Medical University of Sofia with excellent marks in 2004. In 2010, he acquired specialty in Internal Diseases at the Medical University of Sofia, and in 2016 – specialty in Cardiology. Dr. Slavchev is certified in Echocardiography, Invasive Cardiology, and Implantation of pacemakers.
Dr. Slavchev’s professional experience involves working as a resident doctor at the Cardiology Clinic and Electrocardiostimulation Unit of UMBAL “St. Ekaterina”, Sofia, from 2007 to 2010, and from 2010 to 2019 – as a resident doctor at the Cardiology Clinic of “Lozenets” University Hospital, Sofia, and as an assistant in Internal Medicine at Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”; from the beginning of 2019 until 2021, he was part of the team of the Invasive Cardiology Unit of the Military Medical Academy in Sofia.

He also specialised in Cardiology in clinics in Germany (Herzzentrum Duisburg and Katolisches Klinikum Koblenz) in the period 2011-2012. In 2021, Dr. Slavchev started a private practice.

Dr. Slavchev was awarded the scientific degree Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) on 18.06.2018 for his thesis “Sudden Cardiac Death: Epidemiology, Clinical and Morphological Characteristics” at Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” with scientific supervisor Prof. Temenuga Donova, MD, PhD, DSc Mеd.

He is the author of over 40 articles published in foreign and Bulgarian journals and of multiple presentations/posters on congresses. He published a monography titled “Sudden Cardiac Death: Demographic, Morphological and Prognostic Assessment”.

Dr. Slavchev is fluent in English, German and Russian. He is a member of the Society of Cardiologists in Bulgaria, Society of Invasive Cardiology in Bulgaria, the Branch Society of Cardiostimulation and Electrophysiology in Bulgaria, the European Society of Cardiology, European Heart Failure Association, and the European Heart Rhythm Association.

Dr. Radostina Ilieva

Dr. Radostina Ilieva graduated Medicine in 2006 from the Medical University of Varna. Thanks to her excellent marks, she was bestowed the annual award of IMAB – specialisation in Israel. She specialised in Cardiology for five years at the Heart Institute of the Hadassah University Hospital, Jerusalem, and then conducted fellowship in echocardiography at the same centre. She worked in the Cardiosurgery Clinic of UMBAL “St. Marina”, Varna, after which she was a research fellow at the German Heart Centre, Berlin. In 2014, she joined the team of the Cardiology Clinic of UMBAL “Tsaritsa Yoanna – ISUL”, Sofia, and in 2015, she became a students’ instructor in Cardiology at Medical University of Sofia.

In 2021, Dr. Ilieva started her PhD thesis “Atrial Cardiomyopathy – phenotype groups, demographic and echocardiographic characteristics, prognosis “. Her scientific interests are in the field of heart failure, cardiomyopathies, valvular lesions, cardi -oncology, non-invasive imaging in cardiology. She is fluent in English, German and Hebrew.

Dr. Ilieva holds certificates in echocardiography – basic (2014) and expert level (2016), and she also attended a resuscitation course (ACLS) at the American College of Cardiology (2012). She is a member of the European Society of Cardiology (ESC), the European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging (EACVI), the European Heart Failure Association (HFA), the Society of Cardiologists in Bulgaria.
